The Power of a DREAM

ATTENTION!! If you’re reading this, you’ve got work to do RIGHT NOW!

I need to hear from you by 10am Tuesday.

The National Education Association has been asked by some of our partners, like United We Dream, to help them, and we don’t want to lose any time.

Wednesday, August 15th, at 7pm EST, we need you to help a DREAM come true for someone’s child; for someone who lives in your community; for a student who might be sitting in your class in September.

Wednesday, August 15th at 7pm EST, I will be hosting a Tele-Town Hall meeting to talk about what we can do to help DREAMERS (certain young people without legal immigration status who were brought into the country as kids).  We want as many DREAMERS as are eligible to take advantage of an order issued by President Obama  allowing them to apply to stay in the only home they’ve ever known if they are going to school or serving their country.

Wednesday, August 15th at 7pm EST, you can join in the discussion, listen to legal expert, passionate educators and even a student who can tell you what this historic executive order will mean to him.

If you want to be a part of our electronic Town Hall meeting on what educators need to know about Dream students and the Deferred Action order and on what you, as a caring educator, can actually do to help these students, here’s all you have to do:

TODAY,  send an email to:  educationvotes@nea.org

Simply say that you want to be included in the Dream  Town Hall and give your name and phone number in the body of the message.

One sentence.  That’s it.

Just before 7pm on Wednesday, August 15th, you will receive a phone call that will patch you into the Town Hall.  Using your phone touch-tone, you will be able to participate in polls, and you will be giving the opportunity to even ask questions of the presenters.

Let us know by 10am Tuesday, August 14th if you’d like to be included in the call.

There is power in a powerful dream.  Be a part of this one.
