Lily’s rendition of the National Anthem at the opening of the NEA RA was absolutely beautiful — very touching and meaningful

Lovely rendition. It was my first RA and I look forward to many more. It was a wonderful event and I even made my way to the microphone several times. Good work, Lily!

A first time delegate from Utah, I was thrilled and captivated by this year’s RA! Deciding earlier this year to be part of a bigger picture in education, I ran for RA Delegate in my local. I had no idea of how big that picture would be! Walking into the convention hall the first morning and seeing the stage, hearing the music, and watching all the people, created such energy in me! I was proud to be there! It inspired me to keep up the fight for public education as well as students and teachers. In my state, our Legislation is so closed minded about public education, while cutting millions of dollars in funding over several years; turning a deaf ear to the experts – us; letting the state affiliate of the Eagle Forum take part in chastising what they are ignorant to, as well as joining in on their attacks…it becomes frustrating and creates a feeling of helplessness. These are not situations that are unique to only Utah. But being in a building of tens of thousands of like minded people, gives meaning to my fight in my part of the world. Something that I will make every effort to share with those who come in contact with me. The RA certainly inspired me and proved that when we join together, change can happen for the better, with public education!
